Man, the weather was truly wonderful this weekend. The breezes, oh I wish those breezes would stay forever! I also wish we had spent more time outside, but our weekend was really fun and relaxing nonetheless. I took a trip to Target with my best lady-friend Allison, we partied on Saturday night, and then spent the majority of Sunday catching up on our favorite shows. After such a crappy week, it was the perfect weekend.
Things are pretty much back to normal, or at least it feels like they are, and I could not be happier or more thankful for my average, busy, sometimes "boring" life.
This was a difficult week...to say the least. It was an emotional roller coaster. But it's over now, and frankly, good riddance. I think after a week like that things can really only get better, right? Right. In fact, this are already getting better. I guess sometimes you just need a really bad week to get back to the good things. At least, that's what I'm telling myself.
Lately, in the mornings and evenings, the air has been cooler, crisper, with a nice breeze, and with less humidity than during the days (which are, by the way, still unfortunately sweaty).
But the occasional cool air has left me day dreaming all about fall clothes. I love dressing for fall, which, in Florida, is pretty much dressing for winter. Curse you, Florida "winter".
Anyway, for some reason I'm kind of obsessed with maroon? "Oxblood" is the fancy fashion-y term, but whatever, same color, and I love it. I asked my Mom to knit me some maroon socks this year and I can't wait to wear them with my new Clark's desert boots! (side note: since Hanukkah starts the night before Thanksgiving, and I'm not going home for Thanksgiving, I got my boots as an early gift. We don't buy expensive things regularly)
Some of the above items I already own (the boots, the hat, the lipstick), some are just really similar to things that I own (the jacket, the wedges, the scarf, the socks), and others are things that I'm on the hunt for (the nail polish! I can't find it anywhere!). If you're interested, you can follow the link below the photo for links to the individual items and/or to follow me on Polyvore.
Fall fashion is my favorite. Did I already mention that? ;)
I went home this weekend for Yom Kippur. Rebecca came home too and it's been a nice break from reality. I got to cuddle with my cat and sit with my mom (and Boo) in shul. The weekend isn't over, but, still.
The holiday made me think about how fortunate I've been this year. How many opportunities I've had, and how many more I will have in the coming year. I'm just really lucky, you know? Do you ever think about it for a second, and then realize how lucky you are? It's like an epiphany that you've had all along, but forgot about for a bit.
So here's to another year of opportunity. Another year of travel, of good friends, family, and music.
This weekend was so fun! I spent a lot of time feeling sick but managed to have a great time nonetheless.
On Saturday night we went to a friend's house for dinner and then bowling for her birthday (Um, bowling is so fun, why don't we do it more?) Then Sunday afternoon was the College of Music picnic. Free corn dogs and chips and soda galore! Corn dogs are a guilty pleasure food that I officially need to swear off from now on, so that's sad, but oh well. Anyway, fun weekend. Loved it.
And did I mention that John and I celebrated two years together on Saturday? That was probably the best part of this weekend. John, you're the very best.
We didn't do a whole lot this weekend. We had some plans that fell through, hung out with friends, went grocery shopping, ate a lot...no big Labor Day cookout or beach day. But it was a pleasant weekend nonetheless.
^ Publix trip with my main doods (note the grocery bag in the back seat) ^
^ my roommate (Caleb) made an awesome dinner on Sunday night. I'm lucky. ^
^ UNO. I forgot how fun/funny this game could be ^
In other news, I finalized where I'll be applying to graduate school...maybe I'll share the list some other day though. I'm excited to get to work and then, next semester, travel for auditions! I'm about to be real busy. But, like, the best kind of busy.
