Travel-wear

In a about a week and a half I will be en route to Belgium to spend a week playing clarinet and then a week bumbling around Paris.

Um, that is nuts. How is it already July?! I mean thank god time is flying by because this is the summer straight from hell, but I thought I had more time that I actually have. Crap.

The point of this post is to say that I'm starting to freak out about packing because I'll still be at camp this week, leaving me 3 days to pack and get myself prepared for this trip. Not to mention that the weather in Belgium (and Paris, I guess?) is kind of temperamental, no pun intended, in the summer. Therefore: I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO PACK

So yesterday I used Polyvore to help organize some of my thoughts on what I should probably pack and I already feel better. Below is what I'm thinking about wearing on the ~12 hour plane ride (cue nervous laughter here).

Cheers!

Slices of Life // #ihatecamp

A few shots from the past week and a half, all from my iPhone.

I started working at a local day camp for the three weeks until I go to Europe. Without going into too much detail...it's not great. I like my kids for the most part, but they're often difficult to deal with because they are 6th, 7th AND 8th graders. ***Worst ages ever?*** And I'll just leave it out there that I'm getting paid quite a bit less than minimum wage to deal with these guys.

On top of all the other crap going on in my head and body, it's just not pretty and I had a really really bad few days last week.

But now I think I'm dealing pretty well and just hoping it will be over soon and then I will be off to Europe! I'm not even remotely prepared for that business yet...but I will be!

In other news, I had a fun weekend with friends that started off with drinks and dinner with my Dad, which I'm mentioning because it was kind of strange drinking, a) with dinner and b) with Dad. Oh to be 21. Ha!

Happy Hump Day!

P.S. if you have any home or natural remedies for migraines and/or dry skin (my face is reacting poorly to sunscreen?) I'd really appreciate anything at this point.

Leah, Here's Your Blog Post!

My best friend from Birthright came all the way from Kansas to spend about a week with me! Let me just tell you right now, Leah and I were probably separated at birth. And even though things were weird because I had to start work while she was here, I'm so glad she could come hang out for a bit.

Weirdly, her trip coincided with the date on which we left for Birthright last year. It was funny and kind of awesome to be together on the one year anniversary of the event that "brought us together". Some cheesy crap like that.

On my one day off, we went to the Tarpon Springs sponge docks and just walked around sweating our brains out, perusing the bins of sponges, and eating some Greek food. It was kind of a cloudy day but it was good times.
Seriously, Leah, I'm so glad you came and I miss you being in my house already.
I'll just leave this one here.

Summer in Savannah, Part II

The point of our visit to Savannah, aside from seeing one of our favorite families, was to be there for Abby & Rae's graduation party. It was, to say the least, the hippest little backyard party I've ever been to.

Pretty sure Miss Michele was a party planner in another life?

I may have taken my mason jar and some pretty paper for bunting home with me. And I may have fallen in love with hydrangeas.
^ photo booth and props (the writing is my doing, just sayin') ^
^ Abby & Rae, first day of school, K-12th grades ^
^ I just noticed that the "2" is flipped up, ha! ^
 ^ a ridiculous amount of food ^
^ most beautiful mommas ^
^ this precious blonde child, the son of their soccer coach ^
^ love. ^

It was so fun, even though I only knew a handful of people, ha! I miss the simple southern beauty of Savannah so very much, although we get that heat here in Tampa, too...

Good luck with school, Collins ladies! I'm sure we'll see you all soon. I love you and am so happy and proud to know you.

Ode to (The Best) Dad (On The Planet)

Dear Dad,

I could go on and on about how much you mean to me and how you've been the best support system (with mom) that I could have ever hoped for, and how you make me feel like the luckiest daughter...I could go on and on forever and ever. Because you are. And when you kind of came to my rescue this past semester, it just hit me like a brick to the head. You're like a personal super man, you know? All you want is for Rebecca and me to be happy and to love what we do and be the best we can be...and you're always there to catch us when we fall. Which is amazing because not all dads are like that. Like, how did we get so lucky? I don't know. But thank you.

Not to mention, you're the coolest, everyone says so. Probably most of my friends in middle school were thanks to you. I wish I was kidding (haha).

Dad, I love you. So much of me comes from you (genetics, who woulda thunk?) and I'm really glad.

Love,
Olivia

Summer in Savannah, Part I

Savannah is like, hipster Mecca. I freaking love it. The town is adorable, there are a ton of cool shops, the food is crazy good, the houses are UNREAL...oh & that Collins Family isn't too bad either ;)
^ the most magical, secret-garden-like coffee shop ^
(I mean really, mason jars for drinks? get outta here)
^ my favorite store, the Savannah Bee Company (yum) ^
^ and another goodie, The Paris Market ^
 ^ street rats ^
^ Libby, the best dog in the world as far as I'm concerned ^
(the poor lady is getting old and spends most of her time laying adorably in this fashion)
^ scenes from a beach day ^

It's been a ton of fun (and a ton of food) so far. Tomorrow is Abby & Rae's graduation party, aka the reason for the season, and it'll be so fun and adorable! The moms have baked, I think, about one million cookies. Not complaining. Crossing our fingers it doesn't rain!...

Necklace Obsession + Happy Friday!

Collar Necklace Obsession

Collar Necklace Obsession by oliviamyheart
(links to each necklace can be found via my Polyvore set)

I so would like to buy a collar necklace. I wear pretty much the same jewelry everyday and I've been thinking it would be nice to have at least one statement piece in my wardrobe. But I can't decide which one because they're all kind of gorgeous and inexpensive? Opinions?

In other news, we're off to Savannah bright & early tomorrow morning! I'm so excited. This week hasn't been great in the health department (curse you, headache, for not going away...), so I'm looking forward to getting out of the house. Hopefully I'll feel well enough to actually enjoy myself.

Happy Friday & happy weekend.

Bec's Graduation, Part II

^ our very own Gilmore Girls moment ^

Rebecca graduated from high school.

It was kind of surreal.

And I might have teared up more than once.

Congrats, Boo. You are the best. Even when we fight (which is a lot), I love you so much.
