My 21st birthday was weird. I can not lie, it wasn't the best. But, with that said, I truly have THE BEST friends.

 ^ A little overexposed, but I like it ^

After the banquet, Momma dragged me out for a drink. Let's just say...alcohol and I do not mix. At all.

Last night (the day after my birthday), Cait, Rachel, Britt, and I went out! GNO! (haha) Even though I didn't drink, we had an amazing time. Thank you, guys, I love you to death. You are the best friends a girl could ask for. (We missed you Allison!)

I'll be back soon with graduation party/graduation ceremony posts! Stay tuned!...

Memorial Day

Mom and I spent Memorial Day at the beach with my best friends (minus Rachel, who just got home from LA). We had mimosas (early birthday celebration?), swam, and relaxed. It was so hot and crowded but soo fun. And in the evening, we went to see The Great Gatsby (so good!!)

When we got home from the beach in the afternoon though, I was sitting on the patio and I noticed that my next door neighbors were outside playing in their backyard with their dad...their dad, who has been to Afghanistan twice, has three kids, and is the nicest guy. And I realized how proud I am to know him and proud to have our country represented and protected by him. That's really what yesterday was all about, right?

Graduation festivities for Rebecca begin tomorrow...on my 21st birthday! Excited to spend the morning with my friends and the evening with my family.

Things, That Are Happening, Right Now

I just felt like checking in, here on my little blog. Not a ton of interesting things have been happening, but that's okay because you know, it's summer. And summer is boring.

I started reading The DaVinci Code, after watching the movie with John before he left for Nebraska. I knew the book would be better (books are nearly always better), so when I saw it sitting in a pile at home, I plucked it out to read. So far, so good. The movie is surprisingly similar to the book!

Update on John: he's loving Nebraska. I knew he would ;) He says it's still cold there. He's hiking a lot. They haven't started rehearsing a ton but I know he loves playing in musicals. So he's basically in heaven. And I'm so jealous! I mean just look at this view. (Sorry for using your photo, babe!) I'm just so very proud/excited/happy for him.

Last night we went to Rebecca's last high school award ceremony. Man, those things are long and boring. But Bec looked beautiful and we are always so proud of her. I can't believe she's graduating, what the what?!

Tonight begins the weekend's fun mom and I are going to see Steve Martin and Edie Brickell perform! I'm not super into blue grass but I've heard very good things about them and I'm really excited. Girl's night for my Momma and me.

Tomorrow night, we're going to music in the park at Lowry Park Zoo (weren't we just there?) and then our best family friends are coming in town (hopefully tomorrow night, actually) for Rebecca's graduation party on Sunday! They were last here for her birthday party, so we can't wait to see them again. I can only imagine how many photos I'll be taking this weekend...especially because some of my friends will be coming to Sunday's party, too :)

I love when friends come to visit. And I've missed my high school besties so much.

Oh yeah, and I'm turning 21 next week.

Expect more blogging next week, when I'll have so many fun things to share, finally!

A Day At The Zoo

On Sunday, Lowry Park Zoo had $6 Zoo Day, which, by the way, is amazing. It was really crowded, it was crazy hot outside, but my mom and I had so much fun.
 ^ just hangin' out ^
 ^ baby hippo! ^
^ the koala was THE cuuutest, asleep in the tree ^
^ made an adorable squeaking funny! ^
 ^ mom made me ^
^ my favorites!! ^

The little bear swimming in the photo above was so active!...climbing trees and swimming around, even despite the heat! I took a video, below (I left the commentary because some of it, my mom included, is pretty funny)

After the zoo, I got the chance to go see the Florida Orchestra play Fingal's Cave, which I studied a bit in excerpts class this past semester, and Beethoven 7, which we played! It was fantastic and I'm so glad I got to go (thanks Jonathan!!)

Looking forward to a productive week before Rebecca's graduation party this weekend :)
