Holiday Gifts + Happy Friday!

Holiday Gifts
Holiday Gifts by oliviamyheart

Everyone is the blogosphere seems to be doing this and at first I thought it was lame...but then I changed my mind! It was really fun putting this together for John & I. Thanks to a large purchase I made over Thanksgiving break, I can't afford to buy John the gift I wanted to (but don't worry, his birthday isn't too far away) so I'm making some cute things for him instead. Really, I'd buy him the world if I could. But I can't, not yet anyway, so instead I picked out a few small things for him (and some things I've also had my eye on, just for fun ;) )

For him: sweaters 1 & 2, shoes and notebooks
For her: shoes, Instagram prints (you can follow me @oliviamyheart) and camera bag

P.S. I'm totally aware that some of these things are pricey. However, I firmly believe that if you need something and will use it a lot, it is worth the money! And these are hypothetical gifts anyway, so it's just for fun.

For a future home, Part I

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

As you can see, I have a thing for bathtubs. But really, who doesn't? Bathtubs are beautiful, and they sometimes are just the thing I need to feel better (when they're filled up with hot water, that is). I thought it might be interesting to post about hopes I have for a future home. And that's just what I shall do.

As you can see, I had a hard time locating some of these sources. All photos can be found (somewhere) on my tumblr.

My weekend + Leftovers from home

Bonfiring with my best friends from high just doesn't get much better.
And look how cute lil Rebecca is!
Seriously, what happened to the cute? ;)

Being home is always nice. Don't have to worry about taking care of myself, ya know? That's what moms are for!
But, it's always great to be back at school with John, even if this week is going to be the busiest week in the world. Which is might be. Let the wild rumpus start!

Have a good week, peeps.

Thanksgiving, 2012

I like Thanksgiving a lot, because I really like food and family.
Thanksgiving always leaves me feeling sick though (go figure, right?) (sarcasm, people) and this year was, sadly, no exception. That being said, it was still a fun and relaxing day. We always go to our family friend's home on their lake and their house is beautiful!
Thanksgiving could only have been better if John and I had been together. Maybe next year? ;)
Books...being Books. As usual.
The spread! (I did not eat the ham because I do not eat pork.)
The table, outside, in the perfect weather. Beautiful, no?
PB & the best apple pie in the world!
Backyard, lake, back of house with Bex and Papa. We kind of grew up here.

Hope everyone had a nice, restful holiday!

Being Thankful

Everyday, at some point, I have a moment
where I look at John
or I talk to my Mom, Dad, or sister on the phone
or I have a really good practice session
and I think to myself
"I've got it good."
Because I do.

Even with all the crap, even with all of the sick and unhappy days,
I've got it good. And I know it.
But today is the day where we specifically think about what we're thankful for,
so I've made a list:
My beautiful, loving and supportive family... beautiful friends...
...this lil anti-social kitty...
...and the best boyfriend/best friend in the world (but I might be biased).

I am so grateful for the amount of love and support that I have in my life.

Happy Thanksgiving, all.

A lot of these photos are from last Spring semester. See a few more related ones of my family here and here, and more of friends from Israel (like Leah who's up above!) here.

Adventures in Cooking

Probably you're realizing that I don't really cook that much. And if so, you are correct. Good for you!
But I've been planning this meal for a few weeks (meaning I've had all the materials) and since my sister was here, I thought I'd make it for our Walking Dead viewing party with Chris and Allison.

This spinach and cheese quiche is easy. Not healthy, oh no no. But easy.

3 eggs
1/2 cup of milk (I typically choose to use lactose-free milk)
1/2 cup of mayo
2 Tablespoons of flour
6oz of cheese (I used the Mexican Blend from Publix)
1pkg of frozen spinach (I used Publix brand)
1 frozen pie shell (I used Publix brand, again, which comes in packs of 2)
Salt & pepper to taste

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees
Mix all ingredients together
Pour into the pie shell
Put pie shell on a cookie sheet to bake
Bake for 45 minutes
Let cool before slicing and eating

(I doubled this recipe when I made it, as I usually do; it freezes and reheats well!)
Please attempt to ignore my wonky cookie sheet and tiny convection oven.
Clearly it was a knock-out ;)

Happy Thanksgiving and happy happy few-days-of break to everyone!

These Days

Family was here for the orchestra concert that I was in last night,
and Becca Boo is staying with me for the next few days,
until we go home on Wednesday for Thanksgiving.

I have so many rehearsals and classes and lessons and work,
or at least it feels like I do.
So thankful for the break coming up.

Hope you've all had a nice weekend thus far!

Leftovers from home + Happy Friday

The awesome hat that my mom knitted for me... of my favorites...
...a late night "dinner"...
...all of the cameras we had for the party...
...and what I wore.

Excited to see so much of my family starting this weekend!

Happy Friday (tomorrow)!

P.S. My heart goes out to all those in Israel right now. Read a little about what's going on here or here.

Happy Birthday, Becca Boo!

Happy 18th birthday
to the sister who is the funniest, silliest,
smartest, wittiest,
has the best memory for Gilmore Girls lines,
and is the most beautiful and all around greatest 18-year-old
in the entire world.
I'm serious. You are.
And I hope you're birthday is fabulous, Books.
Can't wait to celebrate over Spring Break ;)

You can see photos from Bec's birthday party here.
Now everyone go wish her a happy happy birthday in the comments!
(and yes I know that I have a lot of nicknames for her, teehee)

Rebecca's so-called "Scandy" Birthday Party

Rebecca turns 18 on Wednesday, so she a party on Sunday night.
"Scandy" is apparently short for scandalous. There was nothing scandalous about it though, ha!
Her two best friends (who are twins) came all the way from Savannah for the party
and it was so great to see them because they're like family! We don't get to see them nearly enough!
Not to mention our grandpa is in town for a few weeks!
Needless to say, it was a good time and everyone seemed to have fun.
There was a beautiful new Polaroid camera in this package
Abby & Rachel
Miss Michele & I
So much family!
S'mores & friends
All photos taken with Miss Michele's Nikon D50, that she was kind enough to let me use.
The dress I'm wearing is from H&M.
And I'm not sure why some of the photos are blurry...I guess I'll work on that in Photoshop. Bear with me!
